Newark Haunted Houses | Fun Things to do in NJ 2014

Newark haunted houses are some of the largest and best in the United States.  Expect a great night out with your spouse, date, or friends.  Enjoy and scream as you are terrified at these haunted attractions.  For the price of a movie ticket you can be part of the action as you come face to face with terror.  Most use animatronics, great props, Hollywood sets, and actors with makeup beyond belief.  You will be frightened.  Find all the haunted houses, trails, corn mazes, hayrides, and Halloween fun attractions in the Newark area including the cities of Rockaway, Brooklyn, New York City, and East Brunswick.

Bulletproof Haunts Welcome to Bane, 334 Mount Hope Avenue, Rockaway, NJ 07866
Bane advertises “Bringing Nightmares to Life”.  Bulletproof Haunts hosts this attraction at the Rockaway Mall.  It is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights starting October 3rd.  Doors open at 7 pm.  Tickets are $22.  There is free parking.  They have a child time for $8 between 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in which children at admitted with a flashlight through the haunt with no Zombie in the house during this time.

Scareland Stadium, 229 Main Street, Belleville, NJ 07109
Scareland Stadium Haunted Attraction takes about 30 minutes to go through this 12,000 square foot haunt.  It runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from October 3rd.  Scareland Stadium  is open 7:00 pm until 12 am.  Tickets are $15.  Baseball recruits come meet the evil owners, demented coaches and sadistic players at the Field of Nightmares attraction.

The Haunted Asylum, 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, NJ 08816
Advertised as a “House of Horror” The Haunted Asylum is put on by the Middlesex County 4 H Teen Council.  They run Friday and Saturday nights in October from 7 pm to 11 pm.  Tickets are $4.  All new for 2014 is the theme for the Asylum hayride.

Frightfest at Schaefers Farm - 1051 Flemington Whitehouse Road, Flemington, NJ 08822
Frightfest is 45 minutes of fright covering 200 acres on Schaefers Farm.  As you go through their four attractions you will ride, walk, and run for your life.  Tickets are $30.  The attractions are the Hair Raising Hayride, Trails of Terror, Massacre Maize, and The Carnival of Chaos.  Frightfest is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from September 27th.  It opens at 7 pm and runs until 10 pm on Friday and Saturday or 9 pm on Sunday.

Blood Manor - 163 Varick Street, New York, NY
Blood Manor is a 5000 square foot haunted house consisting of themed room, dark corridors, and a 3D labyrinth all in famed New York City.  It takes about 25 minutes and $30 plus service charge to go through Blood Manor.  When done why not dine at Hannibal’s Kitchen. Some of the themed rooms are Graveyard of the Doomed, Vestibule of the Undead, Rue Morgue, Frozen Alive, Laser Spectacular, and 3D Labyrinth.  Blood Manor opens October 3rd.  It is open 7:30 pm until 2:00 am or 1:00 am on Friday and Saturday nights.  Check their webpage for other opening and closing times.  Some new attractions include The Crypt, Thunderdome, The Wake, Mayhem, Maggot Invasion, and Hannibal’s Hell.  They promise shorter lines in 2014.  They also have a new “Touch Me Thursday” promotion for a real scary adventure if you want.  Blood Manor is a Funtober Favorite 100 and a top 100 most popular haunted attraction in the country.

Times Scare - 669 8th Avenue, New York, NY
The Elektra Theatre located on 8th Avenue has a number of scary theater attractions located in this year-round haunted house.  Some of the current activities are Dead Sexy Burlesque, Skaryoke, and Crypt Cabaret.  The Haunted House is a separate attractions with ticket prices of $27.  In October you can go through on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 6:00 pm until 12:00 pm.  Visit on Friday between 6:00 pm to 2:00 am.  Explore on Saturday from 2:00 pm to 2:00 am.  Shiver on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 12:00 am.

Nightmare Killers 2 – 107 Suffolk St., New York, NY 10002
Killers 2 is one of New York’s most horrifying haunted houses.  Ticket are $35 at the door but are less online.  Times vary greatly with either a 6 pm or 7 pm opening time and closing times from 10 pm to 1 am.  Check their website.   This is their 11th year but each year the attraction is all new.  The producers are Timothy Haskell who was the creator of Nightmare and Steve Kopelman who produces with Rob Zombie his Great American Nightmare attractions.  Killers 2 opens on September 26th.

Blackout Haunted House - 225 E. Houston Street, New York City, NY 10002
Blackout Haunted House is a spin off from the Los Angeles Blackout.  It has also been known as NYC Halloween Haunted House.  It is advertised as Manhattan’s Scariest Haunted House.  Blackout is extremely scary.  What do you consider beyond normal activity?  Do you want to see someone vomit?  The show is complete with nudity, gore, gross conduct, and other intense scares.  Now running for 6 years they deliver on the fright. This year they promise new rules, and new frights.  Blackout opens October 9th.   Tickets are timed and vary in prices from $35 and up.

Creep Show at the Freak Show - Coney Island, 1208 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11224
Coney Island’s signature Halloween show each year.  Details as of September 15th have not yet been announced.  Usually runs the final week of October.  Also check out Coney Island’s annual Halloween at the S-scarium at the New York Aquarium.  There is also an annual Children’s Halloween parade on the Saturday before Halloween.
